Douala, Cameroon – The Vice Chairperson of the Africa Blue Economy Roundtable Continental Executive Council (The Blue Council Africa) and Chairperson of the ABER Women’s Forum (ABEWF), Barr. Sophie De Sylvie Djoufa Tiemagni, has declared that African women will turn vision into action, inclusion into leadership, and leadership into measurable results for Africa’s Blue Economy.
Barr. Djoufa Tiemagni gave the assurance on Sunday during consultations with the Convener and Founder of ABER, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo.
According to her: “Together, with the entire ABER family, and particularly with ABEWF and the women of our continent, we will turn vision into action, inclusion into leadership, and leadership into measurable results for Africa’s Blue Economy.”

Quoting UN Secretary-General António Guterres, she added: “Peace is more sustainable when women are at the table. Economies are more dynamic when women have the same opportunities.” This, she noted, is precisely the opportunity ABER is creating.
The Vice Chairperson described her elevation as beyond personal honour – a powerful affirmation of ABER’s gender-sensitive leadership and a strategic positioning of African women at the heart of continental maritime governance.

In her appreciation message to Dr. Kiyaramo, she stated:
“Your vision continues to speak louder than words. This trust I receive with humility, gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility. You have chosen to place an African woman at a strategic level of continental governance. This is not only about me; it is about what it says about African women, their capacity, their leadership, and their rightful place in shaping Africa’s economic and maritime future.”
She pledged total commitment to the continental mandate: “Together with my team and all the women of ABEWF, we will not merely occupy spaces at the table; we will bring value to the table, contribute to decisions, build solutions and deliver results. History will judge this moment not by the titles we received, but by what we did with the trust placed in us. My Convener, you have my gratitude, my loyalty to the mission, and my total commitment to the work. I will let my work, our work, answer the question of why you chose me.”
