ABER APPOINTS FRANCIS NANA KWAME OBIRI AS NATIONAL COORDINATOR FOR GHANA

In a strategic move to position Ghana at the mainstream of the Blue Economy, the Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) today announced the appointment of Mr. Francis Nana Kwame Obiri, Managing Partner of Deep Group, Accra, as National Coordinator / Ghana Representative of ABER.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, is in recognition of Mr. Obiri’s proven leadership, entrepreneurial excellence, vast professional network, and demonstrated passion for sustainable development, maritime enterprise, and the Blue Economy in Ghana and across the African continent.

As National Coordinator for Ghana, Mr. Obiri will:

– Represent ABER and champion its vision, mission, and programmes within the Republic of Ghana;

– Coordinate ABER activities, membership drives, and partnerships with government, private sector, academia, coastal communities, and development partners;

– Promote Ghana’s active participation in continental ABER programmes, including the ABER Women’s Forum, ABER Blue Tourism Initiative, ABER Coastal Sanitation Corps, and ABER Youth in Blue Economy Forum;

– Facilitate policy advocacy in alignment with the Africa Blue Economy Strategy, the Lomé Charter, and AU Agenda 2063;

– Submit quarterly reports to the Continental Secretariat; and

– Uphold ABER’s core values of integrity, high moral conduct, mutual respect, and Pan-African solidarity.

The appointment, which is renewable biennially based on performance, confers on him the authority to act on behalf of ABER in Ghana in accordance with its Charter and Operational Guidelines.

The Convener and Founder of ABER, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, expressed confidence that under Mr. Obiri’s coordination, ABER Ghana will emerge as a model national chapter driving Ghana’s Blue Economy from policy to practice.
