The Board of Trustees of the BRACED Tourism Promotion & Development Initiative (BTPDI), sponsors of the Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER), has appointed Mr. Benjamin Young of Tiko, South West Region, Cameroon as ABER Project Manager for the Central Africa Region. The appointment takes effect immediately.
This appointment recognizes Mr. Young’s 30 years of experience in public administration and expertise in policy, strategic planning and institutional resilience. His Master’s in Public Management from AIPM, University of Yaoundé II, Cameroon and fluency in English and French make him well placed to advance ABER’s mandate across Francophone and Anglophone Central Africa.
ABER is a pioneering continental networking platform geared towards achieving the AU Africa Blue Economy Strategy 2050 and supporting IMO’s World Maritime Day 2026-2027 theme: “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence.” Mr. Young will report to the ABER Regional Coordinator for Central Africa.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of ABER projects in Central Africa. Support domestication of AU-ABES 2050 and deliver ABER’s set goals in the region. Build strategic partnerships with governments, ECCAS, CEMAC, DFIs, NGOs and the private sector. Mobilize resources and develop bankable project proposals for the region. Deliver capacity building on blue economy governance and institutional resilience. Submit periodic reports and coordinate ABER events and communications in Central Africa.

TENURE
This is a 2-year appointment, renewable based on performance. Terms of engagement will be agreed with the Regional Coordinator.
