… Says God’s Mercy, Not Human Effort, Sustains Life

YENAGOA – The Founding Senior Pastor of Doxa Family Church, Port Harcourt, Rev. T.Y. Emmanuel, has urged Christians to apply spiritual intelligence in all aspects of life, warning against complacency and taking God’s grace for granted.
Rev. Emmanuel gave the charge on Sunday during a “Survival Thanksgiving Service” organized by friends, partners, and the family of Apostle Dr. Timiebi Kiyaramo at Kingdom Grace Mission Inc., Oxbow Lake, Yenagoa. The service was held to thank God for preserving Apostle Kiyaramo’s life after a ghastly auto accident.
Speaking to the congregation, the cleric said:
“Many of us take things for granted. But there are natural, spiritual, and physical laws that govern life. As Christians, we must operate with spiritual intelligence.” Quoting Romans 9:15-18, he reminded believers that life is sustained by God’s mercy and not by human effort.
“This life is nothing without God. It is by mercy that we stand, lest anyone should boast. And as we grow older, we are drawing closer to eternity,” he stated.
He charged Christians to live with gratitude and discernment, acknowledging that every blessing comes by God’s grace.
In his testimony, Apostle Dr. Timiebi Kiyaramo recounted the auto accident of July 6, 2026, along Glory Drive while traveling to Ogboloma Community in Gbaran Clan in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
“With all humility, I invite you to join me in thanking God for His boundless mercy, His unfailing love, and His mighty saving power, by which we are gathered here today,” he said.
He explained that while driving at about 80 km/h in light rain, his vehicle swerved uncontrollably. After crying out, “JESUS IS LORD,” he lost consciousness. He later regained consciousness to find himself alive with only minor bruises.
He noted four key signs of divine intervention: No Witnesses – No one saw the accident when it occurred. Spiritual Contention – Evidence of a battle over his life. Divine Isolation – No vehicle was approaching from either direction at the time.
Divine Preservation – No broken bones or internal injuries, only minor bruises.
“From the day I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ in September 1983, I understood my purpose: to preach Jesus Christ to everyone I meet,” Apostle Kiyaramo said.
“Do not give up in the face of trials. Trust in the Lord Jesus, for He is able to do all things. You will surely see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” — Psalm 27:13.
Call to Thanksgiving and Obedience
The Chairman, Senate Committee on South South Development Commission (SSDC), Dr. Konbowei Friday Benson, representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, who was represented by Mr. Otonye Tam Tuwei, urged Christians to cultivate a consistent attitude of thanksgiving for God’s works.
In his counsel, Apostle Kiyaramo admonished believers to serve God with conviction based on the written Word and without shame of the gospel. Give God total obedience, noting that mixing truth with error breeds weak faith. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and acknowledge Him in all your ways — Proverbs 3:5-6.
Concluding, Rev. T.Y. Emmanuel said: “We cannot afford to take life for granted. Let spiritual intelligence guide your decisions, your devotion, and your dependence on God. Don’t take grace for granted. It is by mercy we live, not by our works. As we grow older, we grow closer to eternity.”
The service featured praise, worship, and prayers of thanksgiving.
