The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) is pleased to announce the appointment of Barr. Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore as Director, Legal Advisory and Bilingual Lead.
In a statement issued by the Director of Communication and Public Relations, Hajiya Madina Dauda Nadabo, on behalf of the Convener, Dr. Piriye Kiyaramo, described Barr. Edodo-Emore as a bilingual Maritime, Energy and Environment Lawyer and Partner at O. Edodo, Thorpe & Associates, a leading commercial and shipping law firm in Nigeria.
She studied Law at the University of Buckingham and Queen Mary University of London, England, and studied French at the Université Catholique de l’Est, Lille, and Université Catholique de l’Ouest, Angers, France.

She brings extensive experience spanning Shipping, Oil and Gas, and Investment Laws, having advised governments, shipping companies, maritime parastatals, insurance companies, Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Clubs, and Transport Clubs. She served as Legal Adviser to the World Bank team for the realization of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project for Lagos State.
She is the Secretary General of the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a leading bilateral chamber in Nigeria, and President of Women in Maritime of West and Central Africa (WIMOWCA) – Nigeria Chapter.
She chairs Zoe Maritime Resources Limited, conveners of the critically acclaimed Lagos International Maritime Week (LIMWEEK), a high-profile maritime industry event that showcases Africa as an attractive destination for maritime investments.

At ABER, our mission is to build a Blue Economy that is sustainable, investment-ready, and inclusive — where women, youth, and coastal communities are not just participants but leaders.
The statement stated that Barr. Edodo-Emore’s expertise will be pivotal in three critical areas: Leveraging her mastery of maritime and investment law to craft inclusive legal frameworks that secure tenure, finance, and market access for women in fisheries, aquaculture, and maritime enterprise across Africa.
“As a bilingual lawyer trained in France and Secretary General of the Franco-Nigerian Chamber, she is uniquely positioned to bridge the language divide, expand ABER’s reach into Francophone West and Central Africa, and unlock French and European blue finance for women-led ventures.
“Convener of LIMWEEK, she will leverage her global convening power to connect ABER women entrepreneurs directly with investors, insurers, and shipping interests — moving the roundtable from dialogue to deals. A frequent speaker at conferences, symposia, and on television, her voice will strengthen ABER’s advocacy for gender-responsive ocean governance in Africa.
