Lagos, Nigeria – The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) has honoured Dr. Mrs. Chizoba Christiana Anyika, Secretary General of the Africa Blue Economy Roundtable [ABER] Women’s Forum, for Outstanding Performance, Exemplary Leadership and Meritorious Service in the Nigerian maritime industry.
The award was presented in Lagos by AMJON under the leadership of President Mrs. Vera Osokpo, in recognition of Dr. Anyika’s more than 20 years of contributions to maritime administration, logistics, marine tourism, and advocacy for women and youth in the blue economy.
As Deputy Director at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and Head of Maritime Guard Command Administration, Dr. Anyika oversees personnel management, welfare, audit, and operational support.
In her continental role as ABER Women’s Forum Secretary General, she leads policy engagement, capacity building, and strategic partnerships to advance women’s participation across Africa’s maritime, fisheries, ports, and broader blue economy sectors.

“This honour strengthens our resolve at the ABER Women’s Forum to amplify African women’s voices in maritime governance and economic development,” Dr. Anyika said. “Leadership must translate into real opportunities for more women and young professionals across the continent.”
Dr. Anyika also serves in leadership roles with Women in Energy, Oil & Gas (WEOG) and the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA). She holds a PhD in Transport Logistics with a specialization in Marine Tourism and an MSc in Marine Policy from Cardiff University, and continues to bridge policy, practice, and innovation in the sector.
In a special gesture, AMJON also marked Dr. Anyika’s birthday during the ceremony.
Mrs. Osokpo noted that the recognition reflects AMJON’s commitment to celebrating excellence and the growing visibility of women shaping the future of Africa’s maritime industry.

The Africa Blue Economy Roundtable (ABER) Women’s Forum is the gender and youth platform of ABER.
