The Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI) a Road Traffic Safety focused Non-Governmental Organization, advocating for safer roads with emphasis on the safety of lives and property has appealed to Enugu State Governor Mr. Peter Mbah of Enugu State to rehabilite Orba, Owerri, Ezeorba, UNN Road.

In a press release signed and made available to the press, Amb. Nnadi stated that good and accessible road is a panecia to road accident prevention, economic development and peaceful coexistence amongst communities and cities.

The statement read in part; “It is obvious that good and accessible roads attract development in any community and Orba should enjoy such privilege of the current administration of Enugu State under Governor Peter Mba.

“APRI is therefore appealing to His Excellency, Governor Peter Mba of Enugu State to extend the State development strides of his administration to Orba in Udenu Local Government Area.

“Orba is home to Chief Ifeanyi Chukwu Ugwuanyi, the immediate past Governor of Enugu State whose administration in the State could not complete many developments in the State but rests on your Excellency to continue where he stopped. Even though same Orba is where the World Bank Market, one of the largest market in Enugu State is located.

“The economic and social contribution of Orba to Enugu State and Udenu Local Government is enormous, which is the reason why the town should attract the attention of the Governor to prioritize Orba as among its priortized development agenda.

While lamenting the poor development in Orba, Amb. Nnadi appealed to the Governor to direct his attention to the Orba, Owerri, Ezeorba, University of Nigeria Nsukka road.

He stressed the urgent need to rehabilitate the road to avert its current dillapidating condition where flooding is encroaching into the World Bank Market and private homes, denying people access road to the World Bank Market, University of Nigeria Nsukka and neighbouring towns.

“APRI is with humility appealing to Your Excellency, Governor Peter Mba to prioritize the rehabilitation of this Orba Owerri EzeOrba University of Nigeria road towards alleviating the pains of the people in using the road and the University community.

“This road, which connects Orba, Owerri Ezeorba to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and beyond, has been in a deplorable state for years, hindering economic growth, social mobility, and access to education.

“The poor road condition poses risks to motorists, pedestrians, and students, affecting local businesses, trade, and economic development, causing limited access to the University, affecting students, staff, and the community,” Nnadi stressed.

“The organization is strongly appealing that this road should be prioritized in the agenda of Mr. Governor’s developmental strides, Nnadi concluded.
